Computer cant get into another computer on the same network despite all settings correct

Cant See workgroup Computers XP
Try These
Run "setup a home or small office network" in the left pane of the "my network places"
Try restarting other computers
Vista PC can see XP PC on Workgroup but cannot Access Shared resources
The kit will install on WinXP or later.

After installation, click on: Start, All Programs, Windows Resource Kit Tools, Command Shell

Then enter the following commands. (Attention: they are case sensitive.)

net user guest /active:yes
ntrights +r SeNetworkLogonRight -u Guest
ntrights -r SeDenyNetworkLogonRight -u Guest

The first command enables network access for Guest, the two subsequent ones change two different policies to allow network access for Guest.
When hooking up an external drive that has files that are password protected:

Turn off simple file sharing under Tools->Folder Options->View (although I think this is WinXP Pro only).

Right click the folder in question->Sharing & Security->Security Tab->Add. Type in either your username or "Administrator" and click the "Check Names" button. It should complete the proper user for you. OK out, then give the new addition full access rights.

If there are numerous sub-folders (and there will be in Document and Settings) you will need to go into the advanced section and look into the "Permissions" and "Owner" tabs (e.g. Replace owner on subcontainers and objects checkbox for the Owner tab).

Domain Masking Not Needed!
(Do not need this info if you purchase through google apps)

If you own the domain example.com and want to make your Google Site work at www.example.com then you need to make a CNAME record of www that points to ghs.google.com (some DNS providers need a trailing dot [full-stop/period] at the end of ghs.google.com.

Creating a CNAME with your DNS Host / Registrar

  1. Log into your account with your DNS host / registrar
  2. Navigate to the DNS Control Panel for your domain (example.com)
  3. Scroll down to the CNAME (Alias) section
  4. Click the Add CNAME button / link
  5. For the CNAME (Alias), type "www"
  6. For the Host, type "ghs.google.com"
  7. Leave the TTL value at its default (GoDaddy defaults to 1 hour)
  8. Save your changes
That's it.  You're done.  Navigate on over to www.example.com and you should see your "mycoolsite" Google Site!  (Keep in mind that the internet is a big entity, and that it could take 24-48 hours for your changes to take effect.  In reality, I rarely see it take more than a few minutes for changes to take hold, but it is possible that you won't see your updates right away.)

(Start Below)

Purchase the Domain through Google apps

Go to your Google site under the manage tab and under the "web address" add www.yoursite.com

What about my Naked Domain?

Google Apps Users:  Google provides a mechanism for redirecting your naked domain through your domain's control panel.  See the following article for more information:  Google Apps Naked Domain Redirect

Google Sites does not support mapping your naked domain (http://example.com << without the preceding CNAME [www.]).
So, in order to get the naked domain to point to your website, you'll need to take advantage of your registrar's forwarding feature.

So, to achieve this with GoDaddy, you'll need to:
  1. Log into your account
  2. Select the "Domain Manager" option
  3. Select the domain you wish to forward
  4. Next to "Forwarding", click "manage"

If you've purchased your domain through Google with eNom as your registrar, you can configure your naked domain to point to your mapped CNAME (subomain) through the following steps:
  1. Log into your Google Apps control panel at http://www.google.com/a/example.com
  2. Select Domain Settings >> Domain Names >> Advanced DNS
  3. Locate the provided username and password for your eNom DNS control panel and make note of them before clicking on the Sign in to DNS Console link
  4. Click Edit under the Host Records section
  5. Delete any existing A records
  6. Add a new Host Record with the following configuration (see sample image below):
    • Host Name:  @
    • Address:  http://www.example.com
    • Record Type:  URL Redirect
  7. Save your changes

Here is another way to do it through ENOM (this is what I am using)

GoDaddy Instructions - purchased GoDaddy Domain not through Google

· Installed Microsoft Security Essentials Anti-Virus

I've had my hands on a lot of laptops and this is my favorite model.

It is super thin & light, but it does not sacrifice build quality.
The silver body looks really nice and it stays very cool.
The touchpad has a glass overlay which makes it very easy to use.
The Keyboard is backlit so you can see the keys in the dark.
The battery life is very good considering the size and weight of the machine.

Despite being compact, it still has the conveniences which are normally lost on an ultrabook.
It has 3x USB 3.0 ports, the Standard Ethernet jack, the VGA connection for hooking up a secondary monitor, a Display port (think of it as a high end HDMI port which can be converted to HDMI if you needed), a docking station port and a port for connecting secondary batteries!

On top of all that, this unit has a solid state drive so it boots up super fast.
A computer that has a solid state drive doesn't ever really slow down.
With most computers, as time passes, they get slower and slower.
This unit currently has two SSD's in it, the primary 180gb SSD and a secondary 30gb SSD.
If you need more room, I can swap out the 180gb SSD for a 320gb 7200rpm HDD or higher.

This unit also has an Intel Core I7 processor.
The Core I series runs very cool but are still very powerful.
The laptop will barely get warm which translates into longer battery life.

It currently has 8gb but I can max it out to 16gb for $50 more.
Not many would actually need 16gb of memory unless you were using something like Adobe After Effects.

The screen is also the upgraded 1600 x 900 resolution so you have a bit more real estate to work with.

The unit is certified for Windows 8.
Under the Windows 8 Pro license, you can legally downgrade to Windows 7 Pro.
Just let me know which OS you want.

I really cant say enough about this machine.
Try finding something with this build quality at best buy, at this price point.

This machine retails in the neighborhood of $1800

Get it here for less than half that!

Price - $700
